Andrew Revkin, a member of the April 2007 EcoRes Forum E-Conference Panel of Experts, has been an environment reporter for the New York Times since 1995.

Following journalism studies at Columbia University, Revkin has gone on to establish an internationally recognized reputation as a science writer while traveling the globe to ensure the quality of his source data. Revkin is known for his intriguing writing style, by which he translates complex scientific findings into insightful, everyday language, which has contributed significantly in raising awareness among American society on the issues of climate change.

Revkin’s portfolio of award-winning publications on climate science and sustainability issues includes Managing Planet Earth: Forget Nature. Even Eden is Engineered; Global Warming: Understanding the Forecast; The North Pole Was Here; A New Measure of Well Being from a Happy Little Kingdom; The Burning Season (New York Times Notable Book of the Year); and many more.

Distinctions: National Academy of Sciences Communication Award for Print Journalism; American Association for the Advancement of Science Science Journalism Award (twice); and the Investigative Reporters and Editors Award.

Andrew Revkin stands next to a mock North Pole and sign erected by scientists
during their stay on the drifting sea ice at the top of the world. The sign was
changed to read "North Pole Was Here" because the ice is always moving,
meaning if you are at the Pole one minute, you are not the next.

The EcoRes Forum is delighted to welcome Andrew Revkin to the April E-Conference Panel of Experts and wishes to recognize his contributions in the field of environment journalism.
