Steven Soifer is Associate Professor at the University of Maryland, where he joined the School of Social Work following doctoral studies in social welfare policy at the Heller School at Brandeis University. Author and co-author of numerous publications including Doing Democracy: The MAP Model for Organizing Social Movements, Soifer introduces his students to the under- lying principles of grassroots action, community organizing theory and practice, and planning for social change.
His commitment to change advocacy at the grassroots level has prompted Soifer to become involved with several non-violent advocacy-oriented NGO campaigns, locally, nationally, and internationally, including peace efforts in the Middle East and anti-intervention initiatives in Central America.
The EcoRes Forum is delighted to welcome Professor Steven Soifer to the April E-Conference Panel of Experts and wishes to recognize his contributions in the fields of social action and policy.
